Mathieu Ricard is a French Buddhist monk, author, and photographer recognized for his ability to integrate science and spirituality. Before his monastic life, he earned a doctorate in molecular genetics from the Pasteur Institute, but left his scientific career to study under the guidance of Tibetan masters, including Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche.

Ricard is the author of influential books such as En defensa de la felicidad and El arte de la meditación, in which he explores how to cultivate positive states of mind and compassion. He also bridges the gap between East and West, participating in dialogues about science and Buddhism as part of the Mind and Life Institute.
