Old road, white clouds

In Old Road, White Clouds, Thich Nhat Hanh reconstructs the life of Gautama Buddha in a unique and accessible way, narrating his story from the moment he left the palace until his passing. Through the eyes of Svasti, a young shepherd boy, and the Buddha himself, the author weaves a narrative based on various ancient Buddhist sources, focusing on the Buddha's human dimension and his everyday challenges, rather than the miraculous elements traditionally associated with his life. The Vietnamese monk, a renowned peace activist and Nobel Prize nominee, offers an intimate and intimate view of the Buddha as a human being who faced real difficulties both in civil society and among his own disciples.

Siddhartha Gautama, known as Buddha, was a prince who, faced with life's suffering, renounced his privileges to seek the truth. After years of extreme practices, he achieved enlightenment under the Bodhi tree and dedicated the rest of his life to teaching the path to freedom from suffering. His teachings gave rise to Buddhism, which has been passed down through generations as a guide to personal and spiritual transformation.

In the Buddhist tradition, biographies of masters play a fundamental role. They not only recount exemplary lives, but also inspire practitioners to follow the path of the Dharma. These stories show how Buddhist principles are applied in everyday life, offering vivid examples of compassion, wisdom, and dedication. Through them, disciples find motivation to face challenges and deepen their spiritual practice.
