The Magic Liana

The magic vine, which recounts "the great deeds of the Bodhisattva", is an inexhaustible source of knowledge, wonder and joy. In these stories, as unusual as they are edifying, the Buddha offers us all the keys we need to understand the invisible and powerful links that weave the world of beings and things. No happiness, no pain arises without a cause: this is the mystery of karmic causality, which gives man the freedom to shape his own destiny.

Being free to work for his own happiness, which is a good thing, a human being can also devote himself to procuring the happiness of others, and even of all others, however inconceivable the task may seem. This is, in any case, what these stories invite us to do. In the usual tone of the fables or fantasy stories of ancient India, they convey to the reader the true tradition of the bodhisattvas of boundless goodness, those compassionate and wise heroes who incarnate and reincarnate in the worlds in order to liberate every being without exception from the ocean of suffering.

Whether these unpredictable short stories move us, disturb us or amaze us, they never cease to reveal genuine wisdom, imbued with infinite compassion.
