Lama Yeshe (1935-1984) was a Tibetan Buddhist teacher renowned for his role in spreading Mahayana Buddhism in the West. Ordained at the age of six, he studied under great masters in Tibet before going into exile in India after the Chinese invasion. Founder, together with Lama Zopa Rinpoche, of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT), Lama Yeshe dedicated his life to making the Dharma accessible to Western students. In his warm, pragmatic and deeply compassionate style, he transmitted teachings on mind, meditation and spiritual development. His legacy lives on through his disciples and writings.
Tara, the feminine energy that liberates
Lama Yeshe explains how it is possible to develop the true nature of our mind through the practice of Buddhist tantra - a method that transforms our view of ourselves and our surroundings and enables us to become fully awakened, compassionate and clear-headed people. "Tara is a state of consciousness, a state of realisation. It is the most diligent divine action; in other words, when the quality of Tara is developed, laziness can be eliminated, and much energy can be created and obtained for actual effective action".
